Cookies for Santa

So, when Mama had visions of making cookies for Santa, she envisioned making chocolate chip cookies. I've heard that Santa loves them! ;) My sweet Ian has opinions about stuff, so I figured this was something I should ask him about. After all, it was his gift to Santa, right? So, I ask Ian, "Do you care what kind of cookies we leave for Santa?" His response was, "I want to leave him cookies with frosting and sprinkles." Oh, my! Definitely not what Mama had in mind! He was SURE this was what Santa wanted so I started looking for a recipe on Pintrest. (My sugar cookie recipe makes about a million cookies and really is better without frosting and sprinkles!) I found a yummy looking one here. Don't they look yummy???

So, we got started. We had a lot of fun. Yes, I think fun is the word I'll stick with. ;)   (Making these kind of cookies with someone who isn't quite 3 years old keeps even the most patient of mama's on their toes!) Ian helped with every step of the way.

This step was the most fun! :) Ian had picked out the sprinkles and the icing colors. Blue was his favorite!

And, while they look nothing like the picture above, they were still yummy. Well, Ian and I thought they were yummy. Daddy didn't really care for them. Oops!

The mess we made having all of our fun was pretty managable, I think, for what we did. And, since Daddy didn't quite love them, I'll be excited to see what we do next year; what kind of fun messes we can make as we prepare a yummy treat for Santa!  I'm still voting for chocolate chip, but Santa ate up all the cookies that were left for him, so we'll have to wait and see!
